"In the exhibition series 'The Soul of my country,' which had travelled to Kolkata from other cities recently, the 73-year-old painter had said, India lives in its villages where you can experience and share life in its fullest form.
"The paintings express the soul through life, India and her core values and culture portrayed across the canvas, with colours. The vibrant colours merge with each other reflecting the spirit of Bharat," she said.
The paintings for 'Soul of my Country' exhibition are of three types - decorative, figurative and narrative.
Bardhan, having drawn landscapes in water colour on silk, oil on canvas and water mixable oil on canvas, said the spirit of the show "Soul of my Country" is an endeavour to find out the secret significance of form and appearance, by discovering one's deeper self.
The veteran painter, who had previously held numerous exhibitions at the national level including on a social cause 'On Color discrimination" with Gallery Sree Arts at Alliance Francaisein August 2014, pioneered the rare medium 'Water Colour on Silk'.
