Pak army chief meets commander of US-led forces in Afghanistan

Pakistan's army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa today met commander of the American-led coalition forces in Afghanistan and discussed border security mechanism, peace and stability in the neighbouring country.
Gen Bajwa met Gen John W Nicholson, the Commander of the Resolute Support Mission (RSM) and US Forces in Afghanistan.
"The COAS emphasised requirement of Pak-Afghan bilateral border security mechanism for which RSM can play important role," the army said in a statement.
Bajwa acknowledged continuous support of RSM to enable Afghan National Security Forces for enhancing the capacity and capability to independently tackle security challenges in Afghanistan.
He emphasised on the requirement of Pak-Afghan bilateral border security mechanism for which RSM can play an important role.
Gen Nicholson was briefed by General-officer Commanding Operation Zarb-e-Azb and progress on the socio-economic activities including return of displaced people to Afghanistan.
