In his meeting with members of the Senate Intelligence Committee Senators Richard Burr and Dianne Feinstein, Gen Sharif claimed that Pakistan Army's perseverance and commitment had degraded militant Networks in Pakistan.
Leadership of International Committee acknowledged that Pakistan has turned tide of terrorism and assured Gen Sharif of the US support and cooperation in eradicating terrorism and extremism, ISPR spokesman Director-General ISPR Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa, said in a series of tweets.
The meeting with Senate Armed Services Committee was led by Chairman Senator John McCain, who according to Bajwa appreciated efforts, sacrifices and steadfastness of Pakistan's Armed Forces, specially Sharif's leadership in fighting terrorist Network on both sides of Pak-Afghan border.
Appreciating longstanding Pak-US defense cooperation, McCain emphasized need to further reinforce this partnership in view of emerging developments.
With clear regional security perspective, Gen Sharif "highlighted need for stepped up Pak-Afghan border management and sustained cooperation to deal with emerging threats," Bajwa said.
