At least 15 militants were killed when Pakistani jets pounded their positions in the North Waziristan tribal region near Afghan border, army said today.
The strikes were part of the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb military operation that was launched in June to flush out local and foreign militants from the region.
Military said five militant hideouts were destroyed in Shawal valley area of North Waziristan and targeted strikes also killed 15 terrorists.
Army gunship and air force jets regularly pound rebel hideouts in the rugged mountains of North Waziristan.
More than a thousand militants has been killed in 'counter-insurgency' operations this year, Pakistani army claims, and nearly a million people have been displaced from North Waziristan, a strong hold of local and Uzbek militants.
The claims, however, can not be independently verified as media access to the area is limited by the army.
