The explosion took place at Chashma Pul in North Waziristan tribal region, known as a bastion of Taliban and al-Qaeda-linked militants.
Five IED-related incidents were reported today at various locations in North Waziristan Agency.
"In three such incidents, Bomb Disposal Teams neutralised seven IEDs, whereas in two incidents, IEDs exploded due to which one soldier was killed while five sustained injuries," a Pakistani military official said.
