Dr Manzoor Memon, the medico-legal officer (MLO) of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), and his driver Ashiq were killed when unidentified gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on his vehicle. Both men died on the spot.
Recently, a bomb blast had taken place near the same spot as of today's incident in Delhi colony in which four people were killed and 20 injured.
The Joint-Director at Jinnah hospital, Dr Seema Jamali said Memon was going home after duty when the incident took place.
Both Memon and his driver succumbed to their wounds before they could be shifted to hospital.
Yesterday, a Pakistan navy employee was gunned down on the busy Shahrah-e-Faisal road.
Despite claims of success by law enforcement agencies in their operation to clean up the crime-ridden city, the spate of targeted killings due to ethnic and sectarian conflicts and militancy has continued unabated.
