The accident took place on Karachi-Hyderabad super highway yesterday night when the family was returning home.
"The driver lost control of the coaster and crashed into a truck coming from the opposite direction on the M9 highway near Nooriabad, Faisal Edhi of the Edhi welfare trust said.
Faisal said that the family including three men and five women had just returned from Jeddah and were going to their village when the accident took place.
Road accidents are common in Pakistan. Most of them are caused by careless driving, bad roads and faulty vehicles.
At least 59 people were killed while 18 others were injured when a passenger bus collided head-on with a truck on the same Theri bypass in 2014.
On November 20, a coal-laden truck fell over a passenger van in Pakistan's Sindh province, killing at least 20 people, days after 27 people died when a speeding bus fell into a ravine in Punjab province.
