Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday assured US Special Envoy on Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad that his country would continue to sincerely facilitate the Afghanistan peace process, according to a media report.
During his meeting with Khalilzad, Qureshi said peace in Afghanistan was imperative for stability in the region, Radio Pakistan reported.
Qureshi reiterated Pakistan's stance that there was no military solution to the Afghanistan conflict.
Khalilzad apprised Qureshi about the developments in the US-Taliban peace talks, the report said.
Khalilzad on Thursday tweeted about a key US military base in Afghanistan being targeted by Taliban suicide bombers on Wednesday.
"When I met the Talibs today, I expressed outrage about yesterday's attack on Bagram, which recklessly killed two and wounded dozens of civilians. #Taliban must show they are willing and able to respond to Afghan desire for peace.
"We're taking a brief pause for them to consult their leadership on this essential topic," Khalilzad said.

Trump called the year-long peace effort "dead" and withdrew an invitation to the insurgents to join secret talks at his US retreat at Camp David after the killing of an American soldier in Kabul.
