Guru Arjan Dev ji, the fifth of the ten Sikh Gurus, was the first martyr of the Sikh faith. He had compiled the first official edition of the Sikh scripture called the Adi Granth, which later expanded into the Guru Granth Sahib.
"We (Pakistan High Commission) have issued visas to 96 Sikh pilgrims to visit Pakistan on the occasion of Martyrdom Day (Shahidi Purab) of Guru Arjan Dev Ji from June 8-17," a statement from Pakistan High Commission said.
Pakistan has several places and monuments associated with the Sikh faith, including Nankana Sahib, birth place of first guru of the Sikhs, Guru Nanak.
