Amanat Ali was cutting wheat in his field in Shakargarh at the Working Boundary yesterday when he stepped across the border and was killed by the Indian troops, according to Pakistan Rangers.
Pakistan Foreign office said a protest has been lodged with India over the incident.
"First Secretary of Indian High Commission was summoned to ministry of foreign affairs to lodge protest over killing of an unarmed Pakistani inadvertent crosser," Foreign Office Spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam tweeted.
The BSF had held a flag meeting with Pakistan Rangers at around 1 pm on Friday and handed over the body of Amanat Ali, who was 40-years-old.
