Pakistani forces had nabbed 12 Indian fishermen travelling in two boats off the Gujarat coast near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL), National Fishworkers' Forum president Manish Lodhari said Sunday.
While one of the boats had sailed from Porbandar a few days ago, the second one belonged to Okha in Devbhumi Dwarka district, he informed.
"Two fishing boats, each carrying six fishermen, were seized by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency near the IMBL two days ago. We received a confirmation on Saturday," Lodhari said.
He added that it was the fourth time Indian fishermen were apprehended by Pakistani agencies since the new fishing season began in August.
The total number of fishermen apprehended in these four incidents stood at 58, while the number of boats seized was eight, Lodhari said.
He claimed that, currently, 450 fishermen from Gujarat were lodged in Pakistani jails for allegedly straying into the neighbouring country's waters.
A total of 1,061 Gujarat-based boats were also in the possession of Pakistani agencies, Lodhari said.
