Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today called Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani to convey "deep sympathy and condolences" over the latest suicide bombing that claimed around 57 lives.
"The Prime Minister condemned the deplorable and cowardly act," Foreign Office (FO) said in a statement.
"While conveying Pakistan's solidarity with the brotherly Afghan people, the Prime Minister has expressed the confidence that, through joint efforts, Pakistan and Afghanistan would succeed in rooting-out terrorism," it said.
The Afghanistan's Paktika province, which borders Pakistan and is considered stronghold of the Haqqani network, was yesterday rocked by the tragic bombing at a volley ball match.
Afghan intelligence suspects that Haqqanis were behind the gruesome bombing.
The bombing came after a recent visit by Ghani to Pakistan and an agreement for joint efforts to eliminate militancy.
