Pak police arrests seven for target killings

The Crime Investigation Department said that they had arrested high profile militant Sher Dil who has confirmed ties with the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi outfit.

"The others who were arrested and were involved in the spree of target killings in the city include Hafiz Muhammad Usman alias Abbas, Dawood Badeeni, Jalil Ababkki and Shafiq Rind," a senior police official, Fayyaz Khan said.

He said the arrested target killers also had political affiliations which were being investigated.

CID officials also recovered a heavy cache of weapons from the arrested, including one Kalashnikov, six TT pistols and 320 cartridges along with 500 grams of heroin and three stolen cars.

The SSP said that during interrogation, the alleged killers had confessed to killing eight people in different areas of the city, including five Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers.

Karachi and the capital city of the Baluchistan province, Quetta have been worst hit by ethnic and sectarian violence in the last one year with the Baluchistan government also facing violence from separatists.
