Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain will pay an official visit to Afghanistan tomorrow to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new Afghan president, it was announced today.
Ashraf Ghani has been declared as winner of the controversial presidential election held in June, marking it as a historic peaceful democratic transition in the war-torn country.
Foreign Office said in a statement that Hussian was going to Kabul "on the official invitation from Afghanistan" for attending the swearing-in ceremony.
"The President's participation in the inauguration ceremony underscores Pakistan's consistent support for peaceful democratic transition in Afghanistan," it said.
It also said Pakistan has already congratulated the Afghan people and leadership on the signing of the agreement on unity government and completion of the electoral process.
The visit would also strengthen the fraternal ties between the two countries, the statement added.
