Pak prisoner admitted to hospital, discharged after treatment

A Pakistani prisoner, convicted in the Kandhar hijacking case and suffering from renal problem, was admitted to a hospital here in a serious condition.
Mohammad Rashid, lodged in a jail here, was rushed to the local Rajindra Hospital last night after his condition worsened, prison officials said.
After treatment, Rashid, who was thoroughly examined by the doctors, was sent back to jail, Medical Superintendent Vijay Shardha said.
"We have conducted tests, including ultra sound, on him and all reports are normal," he said, adding the prisoner was suffering from some gastro-intestinal problem.
Earlier, Rashid, who was brought here from Amritasr a few months back for treatment of his renal problem, was admitted to the jail hospital for a couple of days.

Rashid and two other Pakistani prisoners, also lodged in the Patiala Central Jail, were segregated from fellow Indian prisoners after the death of Sarabjit Singh in Lahore.

The Punjab government has also moved two Pakistani prisoners from Nabha maximum-security jail here to Ferozepur due to safety reasons.
Irfan Ullah, serving 16 years in jail in three terror cases, and Shahid Iqrar Bhatti were transferred on Friday.
After Sarabjit's death, security of Pakistani prisoners has been beefed up in the state and the jail authorities have been ordered to put them in independent cells.
