"Hindustan and the Indian army knows better how to handle the enemies," Punia said.

Anguished over the barbaric behaviour of the Pakistan forces on the border, Punia said, "the UPA government, home, foreign and defence ministries have taken the matter seriously and in the coming days, results were sure to come."

In a gruesome attack, Pakistan regular soldiers crossed into Indian territory in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday and ambushed an Indian patrol killing two soldiers, both of them were decapitated.

Punia was here to address his party organisation at the Congress Bhawan.

He is the zonal president to look after party affairs in Kheri, Hardoi, Unnao and some other districts.

Responding to questions over railway fair hike, Punia said "the sharp increase in expenses, salaries and the safety measures forced the government to hike the fairs, which were pending for last decade."

"None has opposed the fare hikes given the upgradation of passenger facilities and safety measures," he said.

When asked about the criticism by BSP supremo Ms Mayawati over fare hike, Punia said, "the BSP supremo is known for passing one comment or the other and there is no need to take her statements seriously."

Punia later asked the state Congress leaders to strengthen the party and make it dynamic in view of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
