Pakistani troops today violated the ceasefire targeting forward Indian posts and civilian areas by firing and shelling along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.
"Pakistani soldiers opened unprovoked firing on Indian posts in Doda Battalion forward area of Poonch district at around 0930 hours today," Defence spokesman S N Acharya said.
The Indian troops fired back effectively, he said, adding that there was no loss of life or damage to property in the sub-sector.
"The firing exchanges were going on when the reports last came in from the area," he said.
Pakistan troops yesterday violated ceasefire twice by firing in Balakote and Mendhar sub-sectors after three days lull.
The troops had fired on Indian positions in Pallanwala sub-sector in Jammu district on August 29.

The reports from Poonch said Pakistani troops fired heavy mortar shells in Sher Shakti, Kerni, Bandi Chachiya and Shahpur areas of this sector and also in civilian areas, triggering panic among residents.
