An official says Pakistan's military has recovered the body of an Austrian mountaineer and rescued two British mountaineers who were injured last week when an avalanche hit their tent.

The British mountaineers, Bruce Normand and Timothy Miller, were rescued yesterday from the Ultar Sar Peak in Hunza Valley. Christian Huber's body was recovered.

Karrar Haidri, of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, said Monday that the Britons are being sent to Islamabad for better medical care.

The three-member team was scaling the Sar Peak in the Hunza Valley at a height of 5,900 meters (6,500 yards) when the avalanche struck Friday during a storm. Haidri says the military carried out the rescue operation despite bad weather.
