China Central Television (CCTV) was granted permission to broadcast in Pakistan following a deal inked with Pakistan Television (PTV) yesterday in Beijing, state media reported.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) will give CCTV News and CCTV 9 documentary channel the landing rights in Pakistan, it said.
At the signing ceremony, Muhammad Malick, Managing Director of PTV noted the deal was made possible in part due to the support from Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, whose interest in fostering institutional media cooperation had facilitated CCTV to commence its transmission into Pakistan.
