Pakistan's KP govt to issue arms permit to private school

Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government today decided to issue arms permit to private schools in the province in wake of a Taliban assault on an army-run school here that killed 150 people, mostly children.
The provincial government decided to issue the licenses to to ensure security of students and staff members and to avoid incidents such as the attack on the Army Public Schools.
The government has sought applications from schools in the province for issuing weapon permits.
A team comprising top officials of the home ministry and police will visit the schools for this purpose. Hiring of security guards will be the responsibility of school administration.
Moreover, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has begun a survey of colleges to install install CCTV cameras. The report of the survey will be finalised within the next few days.
The government started reviewing security of schools after the the brazen Taliban assault on the military-run school on December 16.
The attack, the most brutal in Pakistan's history, was condemned globally.
