Pakistani Rangers resorted to small arms firing on the forward border belt of Chachwal along the International Border (IB) in Samba sector around 0930 hours today, a BSF officer told PTI.

BSF troops guarding the border took positions and fired back resulting in exchanges of firing, he said, adding, the cross-border firing continued for over 10 minutes.

There was no casualty or injury to anyone in the firing.

It may be recalled that Pakistan had violated the ceasefire 21 times by firing mortars, rockets and small arms in the past less than two months along the IB and Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

On October 1, Pakistani troops resorted to firing over Indian posts and Chachwal forward village along the International Border (IB) in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir in which a couple was injured.

On September 20, Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire by opening indiscriminate firing on the Indian side in order to stall digging work to uncover the 550-meter-long tunnel from Pakistan into Indian territory along the border in Chachwal area of Samba sector.
