After tasting success on the other side of the border, Naseeruddin Shah starrer Pakistani film 'Zinda Bhaag' is now waiting for a commercial release in India as well.
"In Pakistan the film is going strong even after seven weeks. We have even released it in the USA. Now we are hoping that the film will release in India as well," the film's director Meenu Gaur told reporters here.
'Zinda Bhaag', which is the first movie from Pakistan to be sent for Oscar consideration in the last 50 years, will be shown at the ongoing Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) here on Saturday.
Gaur said they are talking with distributors in India to try for a commercial release in December or January.
'Zinda Bhaag' tells the story of three young men from Lahore trying to escape to Western countries.
"We share a common history, culture and even language. So I am sure the film will strike a chord with the audiences in India," said the director.
When asked about the present state of Pakistani cinema, Gaur said there is a revival now due to the emergence of young filmmakers who are experimenting with realistic films.
"A new crop of filmmakers are emerging and they are making different kind of films - not the usual mainstream films you saw so far. And there lies the hope," she said.
