Days after five drug peddlers were arrested from Rajasthan border for having links with drug smugglers in Pakistan and Afghanistan, one of them claimed that a Pakistani smuggler had crossed Indo-Pak border and delivered them 9 kg heroin, police said today.
"Pakistani drug smuggler Fotia intruded into India to supply heroin to Jakab alias Jakia on April 10. He crossed the border in broad day light at 1 pm and returned to his country after delivering the heroin. This was disclosed by the five accused during interrogation," SP Jaisalmer Rajiv Pachar said.
After the revelation, Jakia was taken to the same spot near the border in Barmer for verification in the presence of police, ATS and BSF officials, he said, adding that the drug was to be smuggled to Kolkata.
Two drug paddlers, Karim and Aarab Khan were arrested from Jaisalmer and three others namely Jakab alias Jakia, Kunda and Arjun from Barmer with a total of 9 kg heroin on April 17.
The interrogation also revealed that the accused Kunda had seen Jakab while receiving the delivery of the heroin and had threatened to inform police. But he decided to side with Jakab once the latter offered him partneship in the deal, police added.
