A sub-inspector posted in Nalasopara police station in Maharashtra's Palghar district was nabbed on Friday by the Anti-Corruption Bureau for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe, an official said.
PSI Dharmendra Sonawane (41) demanded Rs 1.40 lakh from a man for not registering a case against him in one matter, and then reduced the amount to Rs 50,000 after negotiations, ACB deputy superintendent (Palghar) KS Hegaje said.
"We nabbed him in a trap laid at Nalasopara police station at around 1pm today. He has been charged under Prevention of Corruption Act," he said.
