Panama ship owners ready to pay compensation to victims

Owners of a foreign cargo ship that hit an Indian fishing boat off the coast here, killing two fishermen and injuring 11 others, today assured the Kerala High Court that they were ready to pay compensation to the victims.
They gave the assurance to the court during the hearing of two petitions seeking compensation from the Panama- registered vessel.
Justice A Mohammed Mushtaq adjourned the case to July 10 for determination of compensation.
Earlier, the court had ordered seizure of all records, including digital data, of the ship "Amber L."
Two fishermen were killed and 11 injured when the Panama-registered cargo ship hit their fishing boat off Kochi coast on June 11.
One fisherman, who went missing after the collision, is yet to be traced.
The ship along with its crew was detained soon after the incident.
