A panchayat coordinator was today arrested by the Lokayukta sleuths for allegedly taking Rs 2,000 as bribe for making payment of second instalment of Indira Awas Yojna to a dalit beneficiary of Piplia Rasoda village.
Acting on a tip-off, sleuths laid a trap and caught the panchayat coordinator Manoj Saxena red-handed while he was taking Rs 2,000 as bribe at Pachore town under Narsinghgarh sub division in the district, Lokayukta's Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) N S Rathore said.
The dalit beneficiary identified as Bhanwarlal was sanctioned Rs 70,000 under Indira Awas Yojna and in July 2015 he had received the first instalment of Rs 35,000, the DSP said.
The second instalment was due and for that Saxena was demanding Rs 2,000 as bribe following which Bhanwarlal complained to the Lokayukta. Saxena was caught red-handed and arrested, he added.
According to the officer, a case under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against him in this regard and investigations are underway.
