Mondal and two others, Monoranjan Sarkar and Ramjibon Sarkar were accused in the December 26, 2011 murder case of one P Ghosh in the area and Mondal was awarded the sentence today by District Judge Jayashree Banerjee.
Mondal and two of his accomplices had beaten Ghosh to death after Ghosh had protested to the fact that Mondal's cows had strayed into his field and damaged his crop, said PP Ghulam Ghaus Khan Lodhi.
Lodhi said an FIR was filed by Ghosh's wife and three were arrested, but had secured bail.
