Pandemonium prevailed in both the Houses of Bihar Legislature on the fifth and final day of the winter session today with opposition members pressing for adjournment motion on the plight of workers due to strict restrictions on sand mining.
The JD(U)-BJP government led by Nitish Kumar government after taking stringent measures against illegal sand mining has imposed strict restrictions on the trade.
In the Legislative Assembly, as the House sat for the day opposition RJD members pressed for taking up their adjournment notice as first item and tropped into well when it was not accepted.
Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav pleaded with the Chair for the admission of the adjournment motion, saying "workers across the state have been badly hit by restrictions on sand mining. While my party is all for action against illegal mining, the government must do something to ease the plight of the workers".
The RJD members raised slogans accusing the government of being anti-poor and anti-worker. Congress members too jointed them in raising anti-government slogans.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shravan Kumar got up and said the government had already answered questions on the issue of sand mining and the motion could not be admitted under the rules.
