Council Chairman Amrit Malhotra said maximum teachers should be available to teach Urdu, the official language of the state, besides Kashmiri and Dogri.
He rapped the government for not taking necessary steps to increase the number of Urdu teachers.
The high level committee should suggest steps to improve numbers of Urdu, Kashmir and Dogri teachers and submit its report within a span of two months, Malhotra said.
Meanwhile, National Conference legislator Devender Singh Rana demanded setting up of an Urdu academy in both Jammu and Srinagar.
