"September 14 is the day which motivates the entire community and all the nationalist forces who uphold the Indian nationalism in the state, amid the atmosphere of intimidation and desperation, to strive for maintaining national honour at all costs," chairman of Panun Kashmir, Dr Ajay Chrungoo, said at a meeting here.

On this day, a clear message should be sent out to anti-national forces and homage be paid "to the martyrs who laid down their lives for honour of the KP community and the Indian nation in Kashmir."

At the meeting, which considered the situation in Jagti Camp after its residents demanded better facilities, he said, "We also condemn the attitude of the government towards the KP inmates of Jagti and the condition of KP employees who are working amidst threats to life and intimidation."

The condition of Kashmiri Pandits continues to be grim and the apathy of the government towards the genuine demands of the community's members in Jagti, other camps and rented accommodations fuels a process of attrition and human rights violation, he claimed.
