Par must enact law for grievance redressal mechanism: Roy
Press Trust of India New Delhi Activist Aruna Roy today said delivery of schemes cannot be guaranteed if there is no redressel mechanism and demanded that Parliament must debate and enact a law to provide an accessible, decentralised and responsive system for time-bound redressal of grievances.
"It is extremely important, whether it is pension or whether it is MNREGA, or whether it is health or food. For people at the cutting edge, if there is no grievance redressal mechanism, delivery cannot be guaranteed.
"That is the most important thing and actually, if you look at Rajasthan for instance, they have passed the Right to Hearing Act which makes us understand how powerful this mechanism could be," Roy told reporters here.
Convener of National Campaign for Peoples' Right to Information, Nikhil Dey said an effective grievance redressal legislation would be a long awaited response to the millions of complaints of ordinary people which never get heard or addressed by offices all over the country for years.
