Para-Olympian Girisha offered SAI coach's job

Para-Olympian H N Girisha was today offered by the Sports Authority of India to become a SAI coach in recognition of his achievement of winning a silver medal in the 2012 London Paralympics.
"With a view to strengthening training capacity of SAI with respect to Para-athletes, Director General, SAI has offered appointment to Shri Girisha H.N. Silver medalist in High Jump in London-2012 Summer Para-Olympics as SAI Coach in the pay scale of Rs.15,600-39,100/- with Rs.5400/- Grade Pay," the SAI said in a release.
Girisha won a silver medal in men's high jump F-42 category in the 2012 London Paralympic Games. He was conferred with the Padma Shri Award in 2013 and Arjuna Award last year.
"Similar offer is also being contemplated with respect to other Paralympics medalists who have not yet applied to SAI. Separately, an exercise is also being carried out to engage more than 100 coaches on contract basis to meet the immediate requirement of trainees in SAI schemes," the SAI said.
