Parents protest shifting of school mid-session

Parents of some students of the government run Ashram School at a tribal village staged protest at the Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP) Office here against department's order to shift the school in middle of current academic session.
The head master of the Ashram school at Lohara in Aheri taluka of the district was issued an order by the ITDP office, Aheri on August 25 to shift all classes to Ashram School at Mulchera village, assistant project officer (ITDP) Aheri, Pavan Latkar said.
The shifting has been done as per government orders as the strength of the students was not sufficient, he said, adding the process of admitting the students in another the Ashram School has been started.
The school had a total strength of 202 students, including 130 boys and 72 girls.
According to some of the parents, students returned to their homes due to untimely closure of the school and many of them will face problems attending the new school as it is about 10 kms away from Aheri village.
Parents have also submitted a memorandum to the ITDP official.
A fresh proposal, has however, been sent to higher authority requesting not to shift classes 6th- 10th, Latkar added.
Parents and some villagers also threatened to launch agitation if the school does not resume.
