Several parent associations today demanded that they be involved in the decision-making process of various educational bodies to thwart efforts to "commercialise" educational institutions by private players.
Fee regulatory committees, state and central child rights commissions were some of the bodies in which they demanded their involvement, besides strengthening of parents-teachers associations in all schools.
Speaking to reporters here, Anubha Sahai of the India Wide Parents Association said, "Fee in schools are revised every year despite there being the Fee Regulation Act, 2014, in existence which mandates schools to revise fee once in three years."
The association is an independent body that claims to head parent associations of all the states across the country.
"We want both the central and state governments to intervene and include parents as stakeholders while fixing fee," she said.
