Mukherjee in his message to French President Francois Hollande expressed his heartfelt condolences.
"The people of India stand by the people of France in this hour of grief. We pray for the families that have lost loved ones and all others affected by these senseless acts of violence against the open society of France.
"India strongly condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. We believe that there can be no justification for such cowardly acts. India believes that all disputes and differences must be resolved through peaceful means," the President said.
"I heard with sorrow and disbelief the news of the deadly attacks in Paris last night in which so many innocent lives were cruelly extinguished. Please accept my heartfelt condolences," he wrote to Hollande.
At least 128 people were killed in a series of coordinated attacks by Islamic State suicide bombers and gunmen in Paris at a concert hall, restaurants and the national sports stadium.
