The 38 year old mother of two only revealed her identity about a year and a half after the incident at a rally for women's rights in Kolkata.

Jordan was raped in a moving car in Park Street area on February 6, 2012, by five young men who picked her up from outside a pub. One of them was an acquaintance who offered her a lift.

The incident triggered nationwide outrage after the Mamata Banerjee administration initially termed it as "a fabricated case to malign authorities." Other ministers had questioned what she was doing out of doors at such an hour, while at least one suggested she might have been a sex worker.

While three of the accused are behind bars, two others, including the prime accused, are still at large.
