Park Street just a reference: director
Press Trust of India Kolkata Loosely based on some developments in the career of a woman cop, as referred in the media, film 'Park Street' is more about the recurrent abuses of women, where the horrible February 2011 incident came as a reference point, the film's director Partho Mukherjee says.
"If you ask whether the title Park Street is aimed at inviting more footfalls in theatres, I must remind you how it got stuck at the Censors after completion of shooting over a year back. So sometimes names invite more trouble. Park Street is symbolic, the attack on a lady on the showpiece hub of metropolis might have caused a flutter but the film seeks to portray about attacks taking place everywhere," he said.
"So the character of the woman IPS, who comes in aid of the abused lady can't be compared with any real life officer in West Bengal in recent time. It talks about the general discrimination such women cops face whenever they dare to be different, defying norms," he said.
