Parliament prorogued after Budget Session

Both Houses of Parliament have been prorogued by the President, officially terminating the Budget Session.
The President has prorogued the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, it was announced today by the secretariats of both Houses.
Yesterday, the Cabinet Committee of Parliamentary Affairs had recommended for prorogation of both Houses of Parliament after there were adjourned sine die.
The session, which began on January 31, was successful with as many as 18 Bills including those on the GST being passed by both Houses.
Besides this, the entire financial business of the government, including passage of the Finance Bill and demand for grants and appropriation Bill, was completed before the March 31.
The productivity of the Lok Sabha during the Budget Session was 114 per cent while that of the Rajya Sabha was 92 per cent.
As many as 23 Bills were passed in the Lower House and 14 legislations were cleared in the Upper House.
