Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed here and discussed security situation of the state.
Both the leaders discussed the situation along the Line of Control and in the hinterland of the state during the nearly hour-long meeting, official sources said.
The sources said the issue of revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) did not figure in the discussions.
They said the Chief Minister raised the issue of prompt release of funds to Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for maintenance of the Highways within the state.
Sayeed also sought speedy disposal of other issues between the state and the Ministry of Defence including shifting of Army firing ranges in Leh and Jammu as the state government wants to use this land for setting up amenities for civilians, the sources said.
The Chief Minister also sought the Defence Minister's intervention for extension of the Kargil airport runway.
Parrikar, who is on a two-day security review visit to the state, will fly to Jammu tomorrow morning and visit the forward posts in Poonch sector.
