Questioning as to why the Congress did not agitate for reopening of the large number of industrial units in the state closed since the time of the Left Front government, he said, "It is bad politics. They are more busy with petty matters and local issues just for anti-Mamata politics."
Chatterjee said Congress leader Manas Bhunia did not raise the issue when he was a minister while he was very vocal now.
He also said the Congress had earlier stated that 42 persons were willing to give their land for the hospital, while now they were putting the figure at 84, which the administration must ascertain.
"There is no hard and fast rule that the hospital has to come up at Raiganj. The place is not vital. We are concerned about setting up hospital for the benefit of people," he said, adding that the final decision would be taken by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The Congress took out a march to the state secretariat to demand the hospital at Raiganj.
