"I don't know about who is telling what on Singur land issue, but I have full respect for the judiciary," Chatterjee said without naming Manna, who had yesterday said that people would frame laws if the Supreme court verdict on Singur land case goes against the West Bengal government.
"I haven't heard what he said. I have just read it in newspapers. Let me have some words with him first", Chatterjee said to a question by newsmen here.
"The state government always wants unwilling farmers to get back their land. We shall present our points before the Supreme Court. The Mamata Banerjee government will continue to fight for the protection of people's rights," he said.
To a question on rebel leaders in the Trinamool Congress party like Sobhandeb Chatterjee and Rabindranath Bhattacharya, he said in the party the individual did not matter. "Discipline is the main criteria in our party. Everybody should keep in mind self-respect."
Earlier in the day Left Front chairman Biman Bose had criticised Manna for his remark and had suggested that Banerjee educate her ministers on the Constitution.
"I wonder how a minister can use such a language," Bose said and alleged that many ministers in the Mamata Banerjee ministry were unaware of the Constitution and its provisions.
"I suggest that the chief minister hold a workshop for her ministers to make them aware of the Constitution," he said.
