The EC stated this in response to a petition by DMK organization Secretary R S Bharathi,alleging a 'scam' in preparation of the lists in Tamil Nadu.
When the petition came up before Justice R Subbaiah, Additional Solicitor General G Rajagopalan submitted that all particulars sought by DMK have already been uploaded in the site. Deficiencies if any would be in two or three days.
DMK sought a direction to the EC to appoint officials working in central government offices to act as electoral registration officers and also booth level officers and to 'purify' entire voters list published on January 20 by verifying the applications and re-checking them.
Bharathi submitted that as per the age-wise census, the strength of persons between 13 and 17 years of age as on 2011 was 50,56,070 who could have attained the age of 18 to 22 years as on January 1.

The total electorate as per the final list published in 2011 was 4,71,15,846. So the total number of eligible voters should be 5,21,71,916.
Bharati submitted that even if the number of 50,56,070 was taken into account, there is a difference of 57,43,566 which was a cause for concern as they appeared to be bogus voters.
DMK also alleged that the ruling AIADMK has set up a third party agency to include ineligible and bogus voters and to delete the name of known DMK sympathisers or voters. District election officers were being forced by ruling party functionaries to accept such inclusions, the party alleged.
DMK said it had already made several representations on January 27, February 8 and 18 to appoint officials working in central government offices to recheck the entire list published on January 20. However, there was no response and so they were constrained to file the present petition.
