Partie seek immediate intervention to solve indefinite stir

Two parties today asked Tamil Nadu government to immediately intervene and hold tripartite talks to find an amicable solution to the indefinite stir by powerloom job workers of Coimbatore and Tirupur districts, which entered the 10th day today, seeking new wage agreement.
Talking to reporters here,Puthiya Tamzhagam president, Dr K Krishnasamy said the weavers were already facing problem from the power shortage and also increase in yarn prices for the last two years.
The government should immediately find a solution to the issue by holding talks, he said.
E R Eswaran, General Secretary, Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi wanted the Government to hold tripartite talks to break the deadlock, since nine round of talks failed to arrive at any solution.

The strike has rendered thousands jobless in the districts, where more than two lakh powerlooms were functioning, resulting in a production loss of Rs 500 crore for the last 10 days, he said in a statement.
Government should immediately convene a meeting of job workers, master weavers and find a solution to the wage issue, which was revised some two and half years ago, he added.
