Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy today flayed the 'imprisonment' warning of Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan over protests against Governor Banwarilal Purohit's visits to districts and said political parties have every right to stage such agitations.
"Political parties have the right to stage protests against the governor's field visits and taking decisions without holding consultations with an elected government" he told reporters here.
Narayanasamy contended that only elected governments had the right to implement and evaluate the impact of welfare schemes.
"Neither the Governor nor Lt Governor can put any obstacle or hindrance and any statement warning political parties staging protests of criminal action is totally condemnable," he added.
Narayanasamy further said that criminal proceedings can be launched only when one prevented the Governor from executing his work in Raj Bhavan
