Janata Dal (United) leader Gopal Krishna Patar alias 'Raja Peter' today said the parting of ways between BJP and JD (U) has taken place at an inappropriate time.

"It is not the appropriate time to snap ties after aligning for long period when the country has been appreciating the work of the NDA and reposed faith on the alliance," Gopal Krishna told PTI here.

Referring to the parties' decision to contest seven parliamentary seats in Jharkhand, Peter, who held Excise and Disaster Management portfolios, said the party should have fielded candidates based on the ground situation assessment.

Peter had created history by defeating Jharkhand Chief Minister and JMM Supremo Sibu Soren in Tamar assembly by-election in 2009.

To a query about JVM supremo Babulal Marandi's life threat perception, Peter said Marandi has been a senior leader of the state and he should have disclosed the names of those conspiring to kill him.

He, however, demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter.
