A fresh investigation by an independent agency into the infamous Parui murder case was prayed for before the Calcutta High Court today by slain Sagar Ghosh's son Hridoy, alleging that the court-appointed special investigation team to go into it was biased.
Claiming that the investigation was compromised by the SIT, which was formed by the high court and is being monitored by it, as the DGP consulted a state advocate prior to submitting the charge sheet before a trial court, the counsels prayed before Justice Harish Tandon that a fresh probe be held by an independent agency.
Ghosh's counsel Phiroze Edulji submitted that the DGP, who was heading the SIT, had violated a Supreme Court order by sharing the details of confidential reports with the state advocate that were placed before the court on its direction.
He also alleged that the SIT was biased and that in order to reach a logical conclusion, an independent probe should be ordered.
The matter was adjourned till Thursday for hearing.
State DGP G M P Reddy had last week appeared before the high court on its direction and explained why the charge sheet in the case had been filed without taking its leave.
