Parulekar says will take up immigration issues with Centre

Goa Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar today said he will take up the issues concerning immigration facilities at the Goa airport with the Union Home Ministry.
"I will speak to the Union Ministry of HomeAffairsonneed to improve immigration services at the Goa airportandiron out allthe problemshampering smooth functioningand also the need of giving e-travel visas (eTVs) to foreign tourists arriving atthe airport," he said.
The minister was speaking at a multi-agency meeting to review the functioning of the Goa airport.
The issues of maintenance of theairportand parking will alsoneed to beresolved beforethenext tourism season starts, he noted.
The meeting was chaired byParulekar andco-chaired byGoa Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Nilesh Cabral.
State Power Minister Milind Naik was also present, besides the officials of Airport Authority of India, Bureau of Immigration,Traffic Police, Goa Police and others.

"The airport authorities andbureau of immigration were asked to resolveall the issues aheadof the tourism season starting from October 2016," said a senior official who attended the meeting.
The newly appointed Airport DirectorB C H Negi was apprised of eTV issueand the need to expedite the process of issuing eTVs totourists arrivingat Dabolim.
He was also told about the need to increase the number of counters to meet the increase intourist arrivals, toincrease the manpower,improvethedesigns of the eTV counters, proper signages, and issues such as hygiene,trolley facilities, etc.

Goa (TTAG) urged the director to take action against harassment of tourists by the trolley pullers, andthose who dirty thepremises.
"The Bureau of Immigration was urged toimprove services at the earliest as the coming seasonstarting from October wouldseea huge rise in tourist arrivals for eTVfacility at Dabolim," a tourism department statement said after the meeting.
