The Congress Thursday demanded that the Lokayukta pass an order in the case relating to Tardeo's MP Mill Slum Redevelopment Project, in which Maharashtra Minister Prakash Mehta had allegedly taken decision which could benefit a developer.

Maharashtra Congress general secretary Sachin Sawant made the demand in a letter to the Lokayukta, the party said in a statement here.

In 2017, the opposition had accused Housing Minister Mehta of directing government agencies to transfer floor space index available for a slum rehabilitation project to the Tardeo project, which would have allegedly benefited the developer concerned.

Mehta had denied any wrongdoing.

The government had in August that year announced a probe by the Lokayukta in the case.

"It is learnt the last hearing in the matter was held in October 2014... The probe is on for two years and the matter was last heard six months ago, yet no order has been given till now," Sawant said in the letter.

"So, requesting you to kindly pass an order in the matter immediately," he added.
