"Currently goods trains are running on the new track. We are hopeful of starting the passenger services from first week of November," Northeast Frontier Railway General Manager R K Gupta told reporters here.
The expansion work to broad gauge from metre gauge was completed a few months ago and goods train have been running since then, he said.
"However, we have seen some cracks in tunnels while running the goods trains. This is because of the very difficult terrain and heavy rains this year. We will do the repair works and the start commercial operations," Gupta said.
Gupta today unveiled the new time table for the Railways, which would come into effect from October 1.
