Passing out parade of sea trainees held

Over 130 'sea trainees' of the 86th Integrated Officer Trainees Course of the 1st Training Squadron passed out at an impressive passing out parade held here today.
Rear Admiral A K Jain, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command, reviewed the parade and awarded trophies to outstanding performers of the course, a Defence press release said.
The First Training Squadron comprises of the Indian Naval Ships Tir, Sujata, Gharial, Sudarshini and Tarangini, and Indian Coast Guard Ship Varuna.
The sea training of 136 officers onboard the ships of the squadron was for 24 weeks from June 30 this year in which they were given extensive exposure on General & Astronomical navigation, Communication, Gunnery and Seamanship.
The Chief of the Naval Staff Rolling Trophy for the Best All Round Sea Trainee as well as the Chief of Naval Staff 'Binocular' for standing first in overall Order of Merit was awarded to Slt Sangram R Kshirsagar.
Assistant Commandant Shivam was awarded the DG ICG Trophy for the Best Coast Guard Cadet.

Aditya Jain received the FOC-IN-C East Rolling Trophy for showing maximum progress in intellectual and professional fields during his term onboard, while Siddharth Singh was adjudged the best Sportsman.
The trainee officers also underwent sail training onboard INS Tarangini to provide them with a first hand understanding of the rigors of the sea and to acclimatize them with the maritime environment.
The officers will now join various front line warships of the Western and Eastern Fleets for six months afloat training.
